Goodness Gracious! Africans also sharpen their teeth? Like for cannibalism or what....
Nah! You guys always
get it twisted. Africa is a great continent with unusual yet wonderful practices, not always the killing of twins kinda thingy or whatever.
In days of old, the Igbos sharpen their teeth. The incisors and canines of the upper and lower jaws are sharpened for beautification. Women or men with sharpened teeth are well regarded in the community, first of all like we said, it shows beauty then secondly it shows the ability to persevere and endure.
People who had gap teeth always laughed with their full dentition showing. Money was contributed and paid to them for having gazed at their teeth. Haha, how do you see that, if that's how money comes I would sharpen my teeth every hour of the day.
Other people also prectice this like the Bali people. The Bali people sharpen their teeth in order to show calmness, they believe big teeth show anger, aggression sometimes jealous, any negativity.
