PORCUPINE FACT

Porcupines are known for being prickly rodents, maybe prickliest of all rodents which can weigh up to sixty pounds while its quills are up to fourteen inches long. In Africa,
porcupines are hunted for meat and most importantly for their quills which have been
a favorite ornament and also used for good luck charm.

Another interesting fact about porcupines is its meat, yes the porcupines meat is very delicious, but there are more to the tasty nature of this rodent's meat.

Hunting this rodent for consumption purpose requires special skills, the skill here does not just apply to being cautious of its quills but taking extra care not to provoke it. Provoking a porcupine gets it on the alert of danger and it prepares itself for an attack, this is where the hunter has to take leave if the mission was to capture it for consumption.

Killing a porcupine in an enraged state gives the meat a bitter taste no matter who prepares the meat, so to get the best part of the meat, the hunter has to be careful to capture or kill it when it is unaware or to strike from a long distance where it not detect danger.

Porcupines are most common in hilly, rocky country, but can adapt to most habitat.
