The Only African Game 'In' The Olympics?
The Olympics known as one of the greatest sporting event if not the greatest, consists of many sports ranging from
soccer to basketball to swimming and the rest. Sports from different countries are showcased, there is mix of cultures, bringing the world to one monotonous entity.Weird things one didn't even consider as a sport like hammer throw - yes hammers are literally being thrown- and steeplechase- where one runs around a track with obstacles here and there- are seen in the Olympics. All these sports originated from one country or the other like the Hammer throw was originated in Scotland and the Steeplechase in Ireland. It would come to my greatest chagrin that no African game is in the Olympics. Why? No one can really say.
Kwepena a game which originated in Uganda and played from centuries back is one game which is expected to be in the Olympics soon. Kwepena or Cheza is played in four rounds and in teams of fives. Each team consists of dodgers and shooters. Players in this game are called Chezas. More rules are being set up to standardize the game.

Thank you for the highlight on kwepena. Kindly as a person who has grown watching and sometimes participated in the game since it was much of a girls' sport I wish to be educated on the term like cheza that is attached to it and how it came into being because I never heard of it being used when playing. I come from the region that was so en rooted in kwepena, Buganda kingdom to be specific.
