As bizarre as it might sound, there was a time when masturbation was practiced in a public ceremony.
Amazing! Isn't it? Well, this used to be the case in the ancient Egypt, a country located in the northeast of Africa.

In the ancient times, the Pharaohs of Egypt were required to publicly masturbate and ejaculate into the River Nile in a public ceremony. One might wonder the reason behind this odd-sounding ceremony. Well, the answer is not far fetched. According to a popular Egyptian creation myth, Atum, the most important god in the Ancient Egypt created himself, and then fathered the next generation of gods, and then created the universe by ejaculating into the River Nile. Wonderful!

Subsequently, the Pharaohs of Egypt were then required to do same. They believed that the flow of the Nile is connected to the frequency of Atum's ejaculation. They equally believed that when the Pharaohs do so, they increase the fertility of the Nile. What a believe!

Does this not sound too bizarre for a country widely acknowledged as the civilization creed in Africa? Your guess is as good as mine.
