Igbo Lullaby

Do you know that in the past there were songs which were used to put babies to sleep unlike the use of modern toys which came up due to the so called civilization that sang to babies to keep them entertained and lure them to sleep. Let’s take a look at some of these songs in the local language.

Kuo ru nu nwa ngwere aka, kerenke

Nwa ngwere ejeghi ije, ma ogbara oso, kerenke

Tufue nu nwa mere aru

O rue echi amuta ozo.   Repeat.

These are few I could come up with, hope I didn’t murder my language. These lullabies always put babies to sleep especially when you back them and sing to them as you walk around, they sleep off in seconds.
